Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 31 points to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 137-101 home win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday.

The Thunder extended their winning streak to six games while the Pelicans' losing streak was extended to nine.

During their run, the Thunder have won by an average of 25.8 points per game.

They ran away with this one early, overcoming a slow offensive start to lead by 13 after one quarter, thanks to a 13-3 run to end the frame.

Gilgeous-Alexander scored eight during that stretch, including a four-point play after hitting a step-back 3-pointer and taking a foul from Jordan Hawkins.

Oklahoma City stretched its lead as much as 29 points in the second quarter, and New Orleans was never closer than 22 in the second half.

With the Thunder leading the game comfortably, Gilgeous-Alexander sat out the entire fourth quarter. It was the 13th game this season where Gilgeous-Alexander did not play in the fourth.

Aaron Wiggins added 24 points off the bench for the Thunder, going 9 of 13 from the floor.

Wiggins is averaging 23.2 points per game during the winning streak after averaging 9.3 points per game over his first 46 games of the season.

Oklahoma City hit a franchise-record 27 3-pointers, with four each from Gilgeous-Alexander, Wiggins and Alex Caruso.

The Thunder, who hadn't hit more than 20 in a game this season, were 27 of 55 (49.1 percent) from beyond the arc.

Oklahoma City scored 40 points off 23 Pelicans turnovers.

The Thunder set that tone from early, scoring 12 off New Orleans' seven first-quarter turnovers.

Oklahoma City big man Chet Holmgren, playing just his second game since returning from an extended absence due to a pelvic fracture, had 12 points, six rebounds and five blocks.

Coming off a season-high 40-point outing in a Saturday loss at Sacramento, New Orleans' Zion Williamson had 17 points and five assists.

Williamson didn't make a field goal until the final two minutes of the first half.

Trey Murphy III led the Pelicans with 23 points.

Donald Trump mocked pop star Taylor Swift after the singer was booed Sunday at the Super Bowl during the Kansas City Chiefs defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Trump — who became the first sitting US President to attend the Super Bowl in Sunday’s showpiece in New Orleans — left the game shortly after half-time.

However the US President could not resist posting a social media dig at Swift, who was in the crowd to watch her boyfriend, Chiefs star Travis Kelce.

The Chiefs would go on to suffer a bruising 40-22 defeat at the Superdome. 

“The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift,” Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social platform. 

“She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”

Trump had earlier shared a post from a different account mocking Swift, which contrasted Trump’s reception by Super Bowl fans with that of the singer.

Trump was given loud roars of applause when he was shown on the giant screen inside the stadium, saluting while singing the US national anthem.

“Trump gets massive cheers at the Super Bowl while Taylor Swift gets booed – the world is healing!” the post read.

Swift was a prominent celebrity backer of Trump’s US presidential election rival Kamala Harris last year.

Her endorsement prompted Trump to post on Truth Social: “I hate Taylor Swift.”

PACERS BEAT BUCKS 129-119 TO ADVANCE TO FACE LAKERS IN NBA IN-SEASON TOURNAMENT FINAL

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Tyrese Haliburton hit his third 3-pointer with less than a minute left, pounded his chest, and looked down at his wrist to let everyone know one thing: “It’s our time!”

Haliburton had 27 points and 15 assists and the Indiana Pacers beat the Milwaukee Bucks 128-119 on Thursday night to advance to the championship game in the NBA’s inaugural In-Season Tournament.

The Pacers will face the Los Angeles Lakers for the title Saturday night. The Lakers routed New Orleans 133-89 in the second semifinal.

“We’re playing the right way and we’re shocking the world right now, we’re going to continue to do that,” Haliburton said. "And as long as we play the right way, we know we’re going to be in every basketball game.”

Myles Turner added 26 points for Indiana. Obi Toppin had 14 on 6-of-8 shooting, Isaiah Jackson chipped in 11 and Bruce Brown had 10.

Indiana is averaging a whopping 132.6 points during the tournament. Overall, they are averaging 128.3 this season — 131.7 over the last 14 games.
