July 2022: diagnosed with testicular cancer and stopped playing football.
January 2023: returns to playing after beating cancer following 2 OPs & 4 cycles of chemotherapy.
February 2024: Scores winning goals in 2023 AFCON semi-final and final.

EPL: NEWCASTLE'S JONAS GUTIERREZ'S CANCER HAS PREAD
The cancer has spread according to his testimony. Jonas Gutierrez last week had an opportunity to explain his illness after concealing his condition for sometime.
He started getting ill around October 2013 and after a collision with Bacary Sagna is when pain could not stop and he had to undergo more tests whereby confirming it was cancer.
Gutierrez has finished his Chemotherapy tratment and his doctors are keeping a close eye on him.
His fellow players and fans are wishing him well. Max Sports and its affiliates are also wishing him well.
