KOBE BRYANT: BASKETBALL LEGEND KOBE BRYANT HAS BEEN NOMINATED FOR AN OSCAR

Five-time NBA champion, Kobe Bryant, has been nominated to receive an Oscar award...The nomination is for his short film 'Dear Basketball'.

The 6 minute film was animated by Disney's former animator Glen Keane and is based on a poem Kobe wrote.

Academy Award winner John Williams composed the film's music. April 2016 was the month Kobe Byant retired from basketball after a very successful 20 year career with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers retired both his number 8 and number 24 jerseys.

After the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced his nomination he went on tweeter and wrote "This is beyond the realm of imagination."

"It means so much that the Academy deemed Dear Basketball worthy of contention. Thanks to the genius of Glen Keane and John Williams for taking my poem to this level. It is an honour to be on this team."

The Dolby theatre in Hollywood will host this years Oscars on the 4th of March.
