Former Young Africans and Tanzania's national team star, Athumani Juma Chama, famously known as "Jogoo" (Cock) has passed away.
Chama started playing football at an early age and later on joined Pamba United
Former Young Africans Secretary Issa Making Makongoro was the one who convinced Chama to join Young Africans
Since Chama liked Young Africans is was an easy decision to make.
He joined officially joined Young Africans in 1981
Some of the famous soccer stars from Tanzania like, Isiaka Hassan Chuku, Abeid 'JJ Masiga' Mziba, Ali Chumila, Husain Iddi, Yusuf Bana, Ahmed 'Mathematician' Amasha, Joseph Fungo, Juma Kampala, Juma 'Jenerali' Mukambi, Elisha John, Makumbi 'Homa ya Jiji' Jum, Omar 'Keegan' Hussein and Charles Boniface Mkwasa, had a privilege of playing with Chama in the 80's.
Chama was very famous when rival teams, Young Africans and Simba Sports Club, met. He was the one who could manage taking care of a rival star Zamoyoni Mogella.
There is a famous phrase called 'Chama na Mogella' which literally means Chama and Mogella.
