A person has been accused of raping one of Michael Schumacher's nurses. As reported by Swiss newspaper 24heures, the individual, in their 30s, is alleged to have raped the nurse while staying at the former Formula One driver's house in Gland, Switzerland.

The allegations date back to 2019, but they've just come to light, with the alleged victim filing a criminal complaint a little over two years after the alleged incident. A trial is said to be scheduled for this week, reports the Mirror.

The rape indictment states that the individual raped the nurse, who was at the residence caring for Schumacher following his serious skiing accident in December 2013, in an upstairs bedroom after 'a drunken evening'.

It is claimed the individual and the nurse crossed paths in the billiard room of the Schumacher's Lake Geneva mansion.

The accused claims that they had kissed once before at a club in Geneva, but the nurse disputed the existence of a close relationship.

No members of the Schumacher family are implicated at all in the allegations. According to the indictment, none were present at the time of the events.

Just over 10 years ago, the seven-time F1 world champion suffered a tragic catastrophic head injury following a skiing accident, and he now requires round-the-clock care from a live-in medical team at his home.

Schumacher was placed in a medically induced coma for 250 days before being allowed to return to his home for further treatment.

His wife, Corinna, has kept a tight lid on the specifics of his condition and ongoing care, but she provided an update in a Netflix documentary.

In the programme, which came out in 2021, she said: "I miss Michael every day. But it is not just me who misses him. It's the children, the family, his father, everyone around him.

"I mean, everybody misses Michael, but Michael is here. Different, but he's here, and that gives us strength. We're together. We live together at home. We do therapy.

"We do everything we can to make Michael better and to make sure he's comfortable. And to simply make him feel our family, our bond. 'Private is private', as he always said.

"It's very important to me that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as possible. Michael always protected us and now we are protecting Michael."

Schumacher lifted his first world championship title for Benetton in 1994, and he retained his crown in 1995. The German later joined Ferrari, where he won five consecutive titles in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004.
