F1: CHARLES LECLERC DEDICATES SPA VICTORY TO HIS FALLEN FRIEND ANTHOINE HUBERT

A long awaited win and a well deserved one to say the least for Charles Leclerc at the Belgium Grand Prix happened on a sad racing weekend whereby he lost his friend Anthoine Hubert in a horrific car crash at Spa...

The win did not bring any joy and instead he dedicated the victory to his fallen friend.

"It has been a really troublesome weekend since Saturday - I've misplaces a buddy and I need to dedicate this victory to him. We grew up collectively and my first race I did it with Anthoine, Esteban (Ocon) and Pierre (Gasly).

"It's just a shame what happened yesterday. I cannot enjoy my victory, but it will definitely be a memory I will keep forever."

Lewis Hamilton was on the verge of winning if there were two more laps but Leclerc held on to win the Belgian Grand Prix.

Lewis lost some valuable seconds at the pit when the pit crew struggled to screw in his rear left tire. He eventually gained speed and passed Vettel and proceeded to chase Leclerc.

"I gave it everything that I had," said Hamilton.

"It was a really difficult race and there Ferrari's were just too fast on the straights. Congratulations to Charles for his first win - he's had it coming all year."

Valtteri Bottas took third position.
