Top Kenyan athlete star, Agness Tirop, has been found dead at her home from multiple stab wounds and now her husband is a prime suspect in the murder.
The Kenyan world record holder was stabbed at her home in Iten.
Tirop set a world record last month for the Women Only 10km road race in Germany.
The late 25 year old star was a two time World Athletic Championship bronze winner.
Kenyan police have opened a criminal investigation into the murder after sending a crime scene investigators to her property on Wednesday.
Preliminary investigations have led the police to look for her husband, who they say has suddenly disappeared.
"When [police] got in the house, they found Tirop on the bed and there was a pool of blood on the floor," said Tom Maori, head of police for the area.
"They saw she had been stabbed in the neck which led us to believe it was a knife wound, and we believe that caused her death.
"Her husband is still large, and preliminary investigations tell us her husband is a suspect because he cannot be found. Police are trying to find her husband so he can explain what happened to Tirop."
